Breast Reduction-October Breast Cancer Awareness Month
Intraoperative video of a breast reduction for a 40-year old African-American patient by Houston Plastic Surgeon Dr. Franklin Rose. She went from an HHH (Triple H) to a full C-cup. Macromastia or Gigantomastia is a condition causing abnormal growth of breast tissue.
According to research by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, (ASPS), women who underwent breast reductions had significantly fewer chances of getting breast cancer than those with larger breasts.
“We removed about 70% of her breast tissue and reducing her breast tissue reduces her risk of breast cancer, proportionally. So she not only looks more proportionate following breast reduction but her cancer risk is likewise reduced by about 70% at the same time.” Said Dr. Rose.
Dr. Franklin Rose, named “The Michaelangelo of Plastic Surgery” by Houstonia Magazine is not only renowned throughout his celebrated career as the doctor for Hollywood starlets and reality TV stars– he also performs many necessary breast revisions and necessary breast reconstructive surgeries for uninsured cancer survivors via the Holly Rose Ribbon Foundation and other medically necessary surgeries to improve the quality of life for his patients.
